What a delightful workshop last weekend (Saturday October 26th) in the Nailsworth Sub Rooms. The upstairs room was bathed in sunshine and there was plenty of room for all of the herbal materials and attendees to spread out.
The workshop had a musical theme as all of the participants were singers, and as a saxophonist, I have to look after my breathing too. So not surprisingly the workshop kicked-off with conversations about the best herbs to use for colds and to help the air ways.
My go-to-herbs would be Tulsi or Thyme – freshly picked leaves popped into a teapot and brewed. Then gargle with the tea when it has cooled, and both can relieve a sore throat. Herbs like Eucalyptus and Mint are great decongestants, so can be useful directly before a gig or performance.
I loved this workshop as the conversation was non-stop, and everyone shared their herbal favourites. At one point the delegates got up and just started blending their own tea and I felt my job was done!!! I clearly was not going spicy enough as they blended up turmeric and ginger which was delicious.
Thank you participants – this was a particularly lovely workshop.
